Book Review

The Arbor Gate book collection is both wide and deep. Most of the authors represented in the collection are recognized authorities in their fields; most are regional specialists, Texas natives, or local residents. Many of our books merit space on the coffee table, as they include gorgeous photographs. And remember that a beautiful book is a wonderful companion on a chilly winter's evening. Our ever-changing list includes books on the following subjects (and more):

  • Plants for our region, including bulbs, herbs, roses, perennials, native plants, vegetables, fruit trees, and more, including many on heirloom varieties
  • Birds, butterflies, and other local garden visitors (friendly and not so friendly)
  • Using and preserving the vegetables, herbs, and flowers we grow
  • Container gardening
  • Garden design
  • Organic gardening
  • Cookbooks from many sources, especially those of our region (including BBQ!)
  • Involving children in gardening, cooking, projects, and just having fun
Do browse through our bookshelves, located in the original Arbor Gate shop as well as in Arbor Gate too!. Or mention a subject of particular interest and one of us will be happy to locate several relevant choices for you to consider, whether for yourself or as a gift.
